Beginning Instruction
First Saturdays:
On the first Saturday of each month, at 9:30 AM, we provide a 30-minute introductioin to Zen Buddhist meditation.
The first Saturday continues with "drop-in" meditation from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Sit for just half an hour or for the entire time. The location is our Chandler facility.
Welcome
The Desert Lotus Zen Community serves the Greater Phoenix area in Arizona, creating a culture for transformation through Zen meditation, koan study, inquiry, conversation, and the arts.
We are affiliated with Pacific Zen Institute (PZI) of Santa Rosa, CA, and look to John Tarrant, Roshi, and Rachel Howlett, Roshi, of PZI for direction and guidance.
On Monday evenings, 7:15 PM to 8:30 PM, we hold a meditation and sutra service at the Valley Unitarian Church, 6400 W. Del Rio St., Chandler, Arizona, in Building B of the Office/Classroom complex on the west side of the parking lot. On Thursdays from 6:15 PM to 7:15 PM, we meet there for sitting meditation only. Look for our schedule of monthly meetings, weekend workshops, and retreats in Events.
2.0 The Zenosaurus Course, begins Monday, February 8
As part of our regular Monday evening program, we will be participating in Zen 2.0, The Zenasaurus Course in Koans. Each week along with meditation we will discuss a koan posted by John Tarrant, Roshi at his blog, Zenosaurus.

February 26-27, John Tarrant, Roshi Talk & Seminar
We are excited to announce our lead teacher, John Tarrant, Roshi, will be coming in February for a Friday Evening Talk on 2-26-10 and Saturday Seminar on 2-27-10.
Fees: $15 donation for Friday Talk $75 fee for Saturday Seminar. Financial Assistance is available.
